Shelby and Alex Carter were lawfully wedded on October 10, 2020 in Louisville, Kentucky. Their reception was held at Captain's Quarters.
Their wedding was a beautiful fall theme with colors of green, burnt orange, blush, and gold accents. They chose our "Black Flame Candle" scent from our Fall 2020 collection which was a beautiful blend of pumpkin, clove, and dark maple bourbon - named after the cult classic Hocus Pocus.
We decorated them with gold glitter and created two custom labels for the candles. The label on the lid had our logo as well as Shelby and Alex's name and their wedding date. The front label has a quote from the movie Corpse Bride. Shelby asked Alexandra if she could come up with a "corny quote" about "candles and love" for the front label. Alexandra immediately was reminded of the vows from Corpse Bride, one of which was "With this candle, I will light your way through darkness."
Fun fact: while creating the labels, Alexandra got way too emotional.
Shelby and Alex truly have a 21st century romance. They met on Tinder in April of 2018. Who says Tinder is only for hookups? Alex knew Shelby was The One and proposed in October 2018. They were supposed to go to the beach, but Hurricane Michael ended up cancelling the trip for them. They ended up relocating to Asheville, NC and Alex brought the beach to their cabin patio. After a date night in downtown Asheville, Alex brought Shelby back to their decorated cabin and popped the question. Shelby said "I don't even know if I said yes because I was screaming so loud."
Shelby and Alex's wedding was absolutely breathtaking. We congratulate them on over two months of married bliss and wish them many more. Thank you for letting us be apart of your special day!
